To run this CD-ROM, the following minimum hardware and software are required:
* 68040 CPU or higher
* 8 MB of RAM (4 MB free) or greater
* System 7.0 or higher
* 640 x 480 display with 256 colors, thousands recommended
* Double-speed CD-ROM drive
To run this CD-ROM your System Folder must also contain the following extensions (supplied on the CD-ROM for your convenience). Please read the Installation Instructions (below) to install these if necessary. Failure to install these "Comedians Essentials" may result in poor video & audio performance.
Before running Comedians[tm], be sure that Virtual Memory is turned off in your Memory Control Panel. Any adjustments will take effect upon restart of your computer.
In order to run Comedians[tm], you must have these extensions: QuickTime 2.0 (or higher), Apple Multimedia Tuner 2.0.1 (or higher), and Sound Manager 3.1 (or higher). If you are using a Power Macintosh, you will also need QuickTime PowerPlug 2.0 (or higher). If you do not already have these extensions or versions, install them by following the steps below.
* IF YOU ALREADY HAVE VERSIONS of QuickTime (earlier than 2.0), Apple Multimedia Tuner (earlier than 2.0.1), PowerPlug (earlier than 2.0), or Sound Manager (earlier than 3.1):
1. Open your System Folder.
2. Open the Extensions folder inside the System Folder.
3. Drag any of the files listed above into the trash.
4. Drag the contents of the "Comedians Essentials" folder from the CD-ROM to your System Folder. When a dialog box appears, click OK.
5. Restart your computer.
6. Empty your trash.
* IF YOU DO NOT HAVE any of the extensions listed above:
Just drag the contents of the "Comedians Essentials" folder onto your System Folder icon. When a dialog box appears, click OK & restart your computer.
STARTING THE CD-ROM:
Once all essential files are in your Extensions folder:
1. Turn on your computer and place Comedians[tm] into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Set your monitor to thousands of colors (if it is an option).
3. Double click on the CD-ROM icon when it appears on your desktop.
It is recommended that you set your monitor to thousands of colors if it is an option in your Monitor Control Panel. Comedians[tm] may also be displayed in 256 colors, though animation and video quality will diminish. In addition, if your monitor is currently running millions of colors, it will switch to thousands while playing Comedians[tm]. Your monitor will return to its original color setting upon exit.
PERFORMANCE ISSUES:
Comedians[tm] requires at least 8 megabytes (4 megabytes free) RAM in order to run properly. Quitting all other applications before running the CD-ROM may increase your computer's free RAM and improve performance of the program.
Power Macintosh users: it is recommended that your computer have at least 12 MB RAM and the PowerPlug extension (supplied) in order to run Comedians[tm] properly. Please note: System 7.1.2 has been known to have playback conflicts with certain Power Macintosh computers.
For best playback results, be sure that your Macintosh is running the most current upgrade of System Software.
